Laurel County, KY – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has issued a missing juvenile alert for two teenage girls who were last seen near Campground Elementary School, approximately eight miles southwest of London, Kentucky.

According to officials, the two girls, whose identities have not been publicly released due to their age, were last seen on Wednesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. near the school grounds. Authorities believe the girls may be together and are urging the public to report any sightings or relevant information immediately.

Sheriff John Root confirmed that his office is actively investigating the disappearance and that deputies have been canvassing the area, reviewing surveillance footage, and interviewing witnesses.

“This is a very serious situation,” Sheriff Root said during a brief press conference Thursday morning. “Our top priority is the safe return of these two girls. We are working around the clock, and we ask the public to stay alert and contact us with any tips.”

The Sheriff’s Office released descriptions of the girls on its official Facebook page late Wednesday night, along with the clothes they were last seen wearing and possible directions they may have traveled. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the teens may be attempting to leave the area or may be in the company of an adult.

The community has responded quickly, with local residents organizing search parties and distributing flyers throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. Campground Elementary has also notified parents and staff and is cooperating fully with law enforcement.

“Everyone is doing what they can to help,” said a local parent. “We just want them found safe.”

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with information to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600 or to call 911 immediately if the girls are spotted. Tips can also be submitted anonymously.

As the search continues into Thursday evening, officials are urging calm and vigilance. No foul play has been confirmed at this time, but authorities emphasize that every hour is critical in missing juvenile cases.
